I was not a pet, not a doll, not an animal. I was a survivor, and I was strong. I would not be weak, or helpless again I would not, could not be broken. Tamed.

–Feyre, A Court of Mist and Fury

Feyre Archeron (pronounced: Fay-ruh[4]) is the High Lady of the Night Court.

She was originally a mortal, but was resurrected as a High Fae by the seven High Lords after her untimely death Under the Mountain. For some time, Feyre resided at the Court of Dreams in Velaris after leaving the Spring Court, but during A Court of Mist and Fury, and due to the events in Hybern, she returns to the Spring Court. In the conclusion of the trilogy, Feyre has once again taken up residence in Velaris, reigning over the Night Court as High Lady alongside Rhysand, her mate, husband, and High Lord of the Night Court.

History[]

Early Life[]

Feyre is the youngest child of three sisters, Nesta being the oldest and Elain the middle child. Feyre's family was wealthy. Her father was called the "prince of merchants" and her mother was negligent toward her daughters, caring only about her status and party planning.

Feyre's mother died of typhus when she was eight, but not before making her promise that she will take care of the family. When Feyre was nine, her father put all their money into a trading business across the sea, which resulted in losing all his ships. He went into debt and was hunted down and assaulted by creditors. As a result, her father's knee was irreparably damaged, and he was unable to work. Feyre was the only daughter to witness and attempt to stop his assault, as Nesta and Elain had fled into a bedroom. Now living in poverty, Feyre became the sole provider for the family despite being the youngest. Too young to read before her family lost their wealth, Feyre grew up illiterate, and without the upper-class training her sisters benefited from. When they were forced to move from their home to a nondescript village, Nesta, Elain, and their father left all the bread-winning to Feyre. When she was eleven, she started following hunters to the forest and learned to set snares and hunt by watching them. A few years later, she began a sexual relationship with a village boy named Isaac Hale and her sisters searched for possible suitors.

Feyre has always had an interest in painting, but because her sisters avail themselves of any money Feyre brings into the household, she has little time or resources to purchase paints and practice.

One time Feyre was able to sell some of her hunts, Elain bought her three paints, red, blue, and yellow. Feyre started painting on every surface she could find, tables, and a shared dresser. She painted fire for Nesta, flowers for Elain, and although she could not explain it, she painted the night sky, stars, and moon for herself.

A Court of Thorns and Roses[]

Feyre is first introduced in the snow-covered forests of her village as she hunts for food. It's the middle of a harsh winter and the Archeron Family is close to starvation. She spots a doe in the forest, gets ready to shoot her bow, and then notices a golden eyed, large wolf on the opposite side of the forest clearing. Feyre struggles between deciding whether to run or shoot the large wolf, which she suspects could be a faerie. Out of hatred for the faeries, she shoots the unmoving, staring wolf with her only ash wood arrow, and since it does not die, she shoots another arrow that hits the middle of its eye, finally killing the creature. Feyre skins the wolf and drags a doe she killed to her cottage. The next day she goes to the market with her sisters to sell the wolf pelt and deer hide and met a mercenary who quickly bought them and paid her very well for them, more than expected.

That night, while having dinner with her family, a beast with a bear-like body, wolf head, and elk horns destroys her cottage's door and storms into it looking for the murderer of his friend, thus confirming that the wolf was a faerie. When Feyre confesses it was her, as punishment for having killed a faerie, Feyre is given two options, to die at that moment or to go live in Prythian, the land of the fairies that is deadly for a human being. Her father encourages her to do it and to never come back. Feyre leaves with the beast and for the few minutes they move through the woods, she looks for a way to run away or kill it. She is then knocked out by the beast with magic and kept unconscious throughout the whole trek back to Prythian.

Feyre regains consciousness when she is already in the Spring Court and arrives at a nice, seemingly empty manor. She is taken into a dining room by the beast who, with a flash of light, transforms into a blond, young man with a mask, Tamlin. He offers her food, which she refuses, since she was raised to believe that all their food was enchanted or drugged. He sends her to have a bath in her room, which she is surprised by, since she thought she was his prisoner and would be living in a cell. This is when Feyre is introduced to Alis; Tamlin's maid. When she returns, Tamlin is still seated at the table, and she refuses to eat again. They are now joined by a faerie named Lucien— who initially mocks her for being human and looking starved. Tamlin attempts to compliment her, saying how she looked cleaned and well dressed, which she dismisses as pathetic flirting. Due to her continued distrust in the High Lord, he magically chains her to the seat and promises not to release her until she eats. Finally, Feyre obliges, and then is allowed back to her room.

Although initially the relationship with Tamlin is unwelcomed, he eventually gains Feyre's trust and interest. At first she tried to escape and feeling that she is failing the promise she made to her mother and leaving her family to die, Tamlin confesses that he glamoured her family to think she left to take care of a sick aunt and her father's ships were found across the sea. Tamlin himself sent them gold and jewels to ensure their well-being after he took Feyre. With Tamlin's reassurance that her family is safe, she decides to stay, starts to pursue Tamlin and painting, while also trying to learn how to read.

During the night of the Calanmai, Feyre is advised by Tamlin to stay in her room and not open her door no matter what. Her curiosity and the tempting sound of drums lure her to the festive in the hills.

While there, she meets three High Fae, who take an interest in her and herd her to the woods, where they attempt to take advantage of her. A stranger cuts in and passively tells the three High Fae to leave. The stranger, later revealed to be Rhysand, offers to escort her elsewhere. She denies his offer and they end up parting ways. Feyre is then found by Lucien, who is furious she left the manor and promptly takes her back.

When Feyre hears the music from the hills suddenly stop, she assumes the festival is over and strolls out of her room to have a snack, only to be found by a Tamlin who is drunk with magic. He starts seducing her and bites her neck— to which she slaps him and claims that she is not his Calanmai seconds. Although she denies his attempt at seduction, their sexual tension seems to become more apparent after the confrontation.

One morning while Feyre and the two Fae males were having breakfast, the faerie who saved her during Calanmai enters the manor. Before he gets to the dining room, Lucien glamours Feyre to not be visible to the stranger. Tamlin reveals the stranger to be Rhysand and tries to kick him out. Rhysand reveals that he came to the Spring Court to pass a message from an unknown woman, later revealed to be Amarantha. Before Rhysand leaves, he notices the extra plate on the table and recognizes Feyre's smell. He uses his magic to reveal Feyre, and tells Tamlin that Amarantha would not like to find out about the presence of the human girl in his court at all. Rhysand uses his daemati abilities and inflicts pain onto Feyre. Tamlin and Lucien beg Rhysand not to tell Amarantha about Feyre. After asking her what her name is and she lies saying her name is Clare Beddor, he leaves.

After this, Tamlin sends Feyre back to her human village as he says it is not safe for her to stay at Court. While Feyre is leaving the manor, Tamlin expresses that he loves her. She has the urge to say it back to him, but is unable to, and so she looks away from the High Lord. When she returns to the human lands, she finds that was her family was indeed cared for. Nesta confesses that she resisted Tamlin's glamour and is the only one who remembers everything that happened the night Feyre was taken to Prythian. During the next few weeks, Feyre's sadness and regret for not telling Tamlin she loves him increases.

Upon learning of the fire that killed the Beddor family, Feyre realizes they died because she gave the name Clare to Rhysand, so she understands that Amarantha has done something terrible in Prythian. She decides to go back to the Spring Court, which she then finds deserted and destroyed, except for Alis, a servant faerie who tells her the story of the curse that envelopes Prythian and accompanies her to the entrance of Under the Mountain so that she can rescue Tamlin from Amarantha. Once in the passages that lead to Under the Mountain she is caught by the Attor, a creature in Amarantha's service, who brings her before her. Once in the High Queen of Prythian's throne room, Feyre confesses her love for Tamlin and Amarantha tells her that she can free him, along with all his court, if she survives three trials and solves a riddle. Tamlin stays silent and unmoving throughout the whole interaction between the ladies.

During her first trial, Feyre hurts her arm, which is left unattended by Amarantha and the other faeries. One night, Rhysand manages to get into Feyre's cell and offers her healing in exchange for spending two weeks out of every month in the Night Court. Feyre initially disagrees, and Rhysand grabs the shard of bone that sticks out of her arm and twisting. After this torture and noticing that she will almost certainly die from the infection before Lucien can sneak away to help her, she realizes she has no other choice. She negotiates to lower the terms to only one week per month. Once they both agree, Rhysand grabs her injured arm and painfully heals her. A black tattoo with a cat's eye in the palm of her hand appears on her left arm as a permanent reminder of the deal she struck.

In between the trials, Rhysand protects Feyre from receiving extra torture from the errands assigned by the guards. However, he makes her wear transparent slips that barely cover her body that she finds humiliating. He forces her to drink a special wine that makes her completely lose control of her body and her memories. He treats her like a possession and forces her to do sensual dances or sit on his lap. He adds paint along her body to know if someone touched her. She spends her days sleeping off the faerie wine, dozing to escape the humiliation she endures. All of this is part of a plan that he himself articulated, to make Tamlin jealous and when he was released, his wave of hatred would be so great that it could kill Amarantha.

Rhysand saves Feyre once while she tries to complete the second trial. She threatens to break soon after and he speaks in his mind, to stay firm. And near the third trial, Rhysand saves her once again when she goes into a panic attack and doesn't feel anything. She herself says that she has sunk so deep inside herself that she will need something extraordinary to bring her back. He sends her a song through the ventilation hole in the ceiling of her cell. The music was something to be worshipped, Feyre said, to fill the void in her soul and take her to a place where there was no pain. She cried without realizing it, but she clung to the music and also to the visions she could see through it. A great palace in the sky, a hall of alabaster and opal, where everything that was beautiful and kind and fantastic lived in peace. Everything she wanted was there, the one she loved was there.

After successfully completing the remaining two trials, Amarantha, enraged, starts killing Feyre, who eventually manages to solve Amarantha's riddle and break the curse with her last breath. Amarantha snaps Feyre's neck and she dies.

Feyre is later resurrected by the seven High Lords of Prythian, but she is turned in the process into a High Fae. Traumatized by all the things she had to do to free Tamlin, herself, and the whole of Prythian, she shares a goodbye with Rhysand and then returns to the Spring Court to live with Tamlin.

A Court of Mist and Fury[]

Feyre has spent three months in the Spring Court after the events of Under the Mountain. She battles with the traumatic events she experienced that marked her in a very deep way, having killed two innocent High Fae as part of her tests. She constantly awakens in the middle of the night with nightmares and vomits in the bathroom. Tamlin, dealing with his own trauma, ignores what is going on with both of them, pretending nothing happened. Feyre's physical and mental health keeps deteriorating and Tamlin does not allow her out of his manor out of fear and misguided attempt at protecting her. Feyre spends her time planning her wedding along with Ianthe, a High Priestess, and Tamlin's childhood friend. Ianthe takes over the responsibility of wedding planner and controls every aspect of Feyre's life, including what she wears. Feyre, being so broken, accepts everything she wants to do with her.

According to Ianthe, Feyre's responsibilities are to bear children to ensure Tamlin's bloodline survives, and plan parties. She has to behave according to his desires to send the "right message" to the remaining courts. Tamlin confesses to her that she will be a consort only, never a High Lady as such position has never existed.

On the day of her wedding, Feyre is not sure of what she is doing. She thinks after being married, things will be better between her and Tamlin and eventually, a mating bond will occur. Alis mentions that she looks as if she is going to a funeral instead of her wedding.

Ten steps before reaching Tamlin, Feyre decides to stop the wedding. However, she can barely speak and stops walking down the aisle. She panics and prays for someone to rescue her and stop the wedding. Tamlin realizes what is happening and tries to grab her and pull her towards him. Suddenly Rhysand appears to take Feyre away to the Night Court, calling in the bargain she made with him Under the Mountain.

They both winnow to the Night Court, where she finds a great house on a mountain, instead of the horrible place she expected. Feyre is surprised to see concern in Rhysand's eyes but while he makes fun of her wedding dress and fiasco, she throws one of her shoes at his head. Rhysand tells her that she is rather strong for a normal High Fae and that she might have inherited the powers from other High Lords, while they resurrected her, and that she needs to train to be prepared for an upcoming war against the King of Hybern and his forces.

The next morning Rhysand tells Feyre her "torture" for the week, learning to read. He also offers her a job to stay with him and work for him, which she refuses automatically out of hate and anger towards him.

When Feyre is returned to the Spring Court, Tamlin uses her as a spy to gather all possible information about the Night Court and Rhysand.

During the Tithe, a tax collection Tamlin assembles for all members of his lands, Feyre helps a water-wraith pay her debt, a fact that infuriates Tamlin. When they start arguing about it, Feyre confesses that she feels controlled and overwhelmed by Tamlin. He loses control of his magic and destroys his study, yet she is not hurt, having created a wall of air around her for protection. She immediately forgives Tamlin for what happened.

When Rhysand takes her to the Night Court for a second time, she spends most of her time alone and reading books, after learning to read and write under Rhysand's teachings and teasing. He also teaches her to block her mind from anyone that may attempt to control her. When she is about to return to the Spring Court, concerned, he asks her what can he do to help her, since she is looking physically and mentally worse every day. She again refuses his help but expresses that she is not so excited about going back to the Spring Court.

When she returns to the Spring Court, Tamlin restricts all of her privileges, saying that it's for her own safety. One morning, Tamlin goes out on patrol with Lucien and Feyre catches them leaving and begs to go along. Tamlin refuses and wards the house with her inside, locking her in. She panics and envelops herself in a cocoon of darkness, fire, and wind. Rhysand is forced to destroy Tamlin's wards and sends Morrigan in to rescue Feyre.

When Feyre awakes the next day she finds Rhysand in her room, tired and desperate, after spending the night in a chair watching over her. He tells her she is free to stay in the House of Wind until she desires to leave. Feyre asks him to take her with him and he winnows them to Velaris.

After meeting Rhysand's Inner Circle, Feyre decides to work with him. After several events, she starts realizing how broken she was and how badly she was treated at the Spring Court. She begins a road of self-discovery that leads her right where she belongs. All of this is in the midst of the beginning of a war against Hybern. In the process, Rhysand gets shot out of the sky with ash arrows and Feyre saves him, killing the attackers and removing the arrows from his body. She finds that the arrows were poisoned and tries to help Rhys by catching the Suriel. She finds out that the High Lord of the Night Court is her mate.

Feyre is upset, but returns to Rhys and heals him with her blood, as the Suriel tells her to. She takes Rhys back to Morrigan and the others and asks Mor to take her away. After a few days in a small cottage, Feyre realizes that she loves Rhysand as he does her. He appears one day and explains everything to her, how he protected Velaris from Amarantha, and the dreams he used to have of Feyre's life. He tells her how he found her at the Calanmai, when he felt the mating bond, and how he fell in love with her. They are intimate and then return to the Illyrian camp. Cassian provokes Rhys into a fight to work off some of the aggression he feels. They steal the first half of the Book of Breathings from Tarquin and are given the second half by the golden queen of the mortal world.

Velaris is then attacked and Feyre defends the city, using the powers at her disposal. She kills the Attor and Rhys names her "Defender of the Rainbow". Rhys, Feyre, Mor, Cassian, and Azriel travel to Hybern. Feyre fails to nullify the Cauldron, and they meet Jurian, who has been resurrected by the King of Hybern. Jurian shoots Azriel and they are brought before the King of Hybern. It is revealed that Tamlin and Lucien were allowing Hybern to set up an area where they could knock down the wall in exchange for getting Feyre back. The King senses that Rhys and Feyre are mates. Ianthe betrayed them and told the King where Feyre's sisters were. The King has them dragged out and dropped into the Cauldron, making them High Fae. Lucien and Elain's mating bond snaps into place. Feyre begins to shake violently and throws out her Light magic from the Day Court, temporarily blinding everyone. She destroys the wards on the castle preventing them from winnowing out and plays one last game, pretending that Rhys had kept control over her mind.

Her friends play along as she cries and runs to Tamlin, who refuses to accept that she was really fine. They say their silent goodbyes and Mor winnows Elain and Nesta out. Rhys, Cassian, and Azriel follow. Feyre goes back to the Spring Court and it is revealed that she is Rhysand's spy and the High Lady of The Night Court. As Feyre walks up the gravel drive, she glances back and sees that Lucien has seen through every lie. She smiles at him as Tamlin leads her into the heart of his territory.

A Court of Wings and Ruin[]

Feyre returns to the Spring Court to spy for Rhysand and the Night Court to gather information. She welcomes the Hybern delegation made up of Jurian and the twin nephews of the King: the Princes Dagdan and Brannagh.

They have gone on the supposed mission of inspecting the cracks in the wall, but it is later revealed that since they arrived they were actually poisoning the residents of Tamlin's manor with Faebane, in small doses so that it is not noticeable but the effect is cumulative.

Feyre begins to gather all the information that could be useful, from plans to the number of troops and locations of attacks. During her stay, she tries to make Tamlin and Ianthe jealous by being close to Lucien and causing him to lose his faith in Tamlin by allowing the latter to hurt her during one of his emotional explosions of power. She also sowed discord among the residents of the manor, especially the sentries, by showing them that Tamlin would always side with Ianthe, and through her daemati powers she implants in them the idea that, after killing Dagdan and Brannagh she had to flee because Tamlin did nothing to stop them from trying to kill her. The news spread through the court and there is an internal rebellion that leads to Hybern's forces having no resistance when invading them. As a result of this, many a fae die and Hybern manages to attack other courts.

Then Feyre, accompanied by Lucien, makes her return trip to the Night Court but they had to cross the Autumn Court instead of the Summer Court since Feyre is wanted there. They are attacked by Lucien's brothers, Eris Vanserra and other two brothers, at the request of their father, Beron Vanserra, the High Lord of the court. They manage to flee from the brothers and cross the border into the Winter Court but are once again attacked by Lucien's brothers and are only saved when Cassian and Azriel come to their rescue and take them away to Velaris along with Morrigan.

Once in Velaris she meets with Rhysand and they begin to weigh their various possible allies. Then her mate sends letters to all the High Lords to schedule a meeting.

Feyre's sisters, Nesta and Elain are living in Velaris, recently being turned into High Fae with peculiar powers, especially Nesta, and as the King of Hybern wants back the power Nesta took from the Cauldron, he sends two of his Ravens to kidnap her, which they were unable to do and died trying.

During the attack on Adriata, Varian, the Prince, sends a message to Amren warning her that the city is under attack by Hybern. Quickly Rhysand rallies his troops and alongside his Inner Circle, with the exception of Amren, march to the Summer Court. During the battle Feyre and Mor fight together to kill the Hybern soldiers who have invaded the palace and the nearby streets and Rhysand faces the King himself, who in the end turns out to be an apparition as he isn't really there. Hybern is defeated and when they go to speak to Tarquin, the High Lord, he shows them he still holds a grudge from their last visit and tells them to leave his territory.

When the High Lords agree to hold the meeting the event was at the Dawn Court Palace, belonging to Thesan, the High Lord of the Dawn Court, as it is the place closest to the Middle. The meeting is attended by the seven High Lords with their delegations. It is revealed that Tamlin has not been working with Hybern, but in fact infiltrating their ranks for info to give the courts a chance at defeating him in the war. After several discussions and altercations they agree to join forces against Hybern, with the exception of the Autumn Court who leaves after Feyre showed that when they revived her each of the High Lords gave her a little of their power unknowingly when she attacked the High Lord of the Autumn Court, injuring his wife at the process.

During the second day of the meeting they hear a great roar and Nesta, who has a connection to the Cauldron, tells them that the King has used it to destroy the wall.

Tarquin tells them that by coming to their aid, he is nullifying the blood rubies he had sent them and offers Tamlin refuge for the citizens of his court and the enemy army invaded the Summer Court across the border with the Spring Court.

A battle ensued between Hybern and the joint armies of the Summer Court and the Night Court (the latter consisting of Illyrians and the Darkbringers of the Hewn City) where the defenders of Prythian are victorious and at the end of the battle Tarquin drowns all the soldiers of Hybern who were still alive. After the conflict ends, they are informed that Hybern's next attack would be on the Winter Court so they use a glamour on the armies so that it seems that they are still there and move to the Winter Court for the new battle.

This new battle is bloodier and narrowly won by the Prythian forces. In this fight Cassian is seriously injured.

After the battle, while in the war camp, the Cauldron deceives Elain, posing as her ex-fiancé Graysen, and takes her to the Hybern camp, from where she is rescued, along with Briar, by Feyre and Azriel with the help of Jurian (who proves he had never actually been on Hybern's side but is a spy) and Tamlin, who also happens to be a spy. Tamlin uses his beast form to keep Hybern's beasts at bay so the four can get away, also sending them a powerful blast of wind to help them escape, as Azriel's wings were torn.

When they learn that the final battle would take place in the Mortal Lands to the south of the island, the High Lords agree to transfer as many mortals as possible to Adriata to save their lives. After that, the armies marched to the battlefield, where the Bone Carver and Bryaxis (recruited by Feyre) and Stryga, the Weaver, (recruited by Rhys) also arrive to aid them in battle. A short time later, they are joined by the forces of the Spring Court and the Autumn Court, as well as an army of mortals led by Jurian and Graysen. During the course of the battle the King uses the force of the Cauldron thus killing many defenders of Prythian (among them the Bone Carver) and soldiers of his own army. When it seems that their forces would be overwhelmed, reinforcements arrive from Cretea, the island of Drakon and Miryam and also mortals from the Continent led by Mr. Archeron and Vassa, the sixth mortal queen mentioned in the previous book.

Knowing that the only way to win is by nullifying the Cauldron's powers, Nesta plans a distraction for the King to take him away from the magic item so Feyre and Amren can get closer to it. When they do, Amren tells Feyre to place her hands on the Cauldron and she does, only to be trapped by the visions the Cauldron begins to give her, showing how the King uses her father as a human shield and then breaks his neck. Also how, when he is about to kill Nesta and Cassian, Elain emerges from behind him and stabs him in the neck with Azriel's knife and then Nesta uses the knife to cut off his head.

When the Cauldron frees her, Feyre tries to kill Amren for betraying her but she explains that only her true form can kill all the remaining Hybern soldiers, who continue to fight despite their King having died. She gets into the Cauldron and Feyre reads the spell from the Book of Breathings to free her true form. During the process the Cauldron explodes and she emerges in her true form of fire and light and takes out all remaining enemies.

As the world is connected to the Cauldron, a vacuum is beginning to be created around the remains of it, as a way to save the world they knew, Feyre and Rhysand unite their powers to re-forge it. It is so much effort that Rhysand dies in the process and after Feyre begs them, the other High Lords gave a seed of their power to revive him as they had done with her in Under the Mountain. Tamlin hesitates, but upon seeing Feyre so distraught, he gives his seed of power to Rhysand to resurrect him, stating "Be happy, Feyre." Rhys comes back to life, bringing Amren with him from between life and death.

After the re-forging of the Cauldron Amren is found within it in her new High Fae form. A short time later Feyre and her sisters attend a small service in honor of their father and then a meeting called by Feyre in the ruins of the Archeron's estate to renegotiate a new Treaty between Fae and mortals.

She was last seen drinking at Velaris with her friends and later flying over the city with Rhysand.

A Court of Frost and Starlight[]

After the end of the war against Hybern, Feyre fully assumes her role as High Lady, helping to rebuild Velaris and working with Rhysand to maintain old alliances and forge new ones between the Faerie and mortal realms to try to keep the peace. She helps many charities and organizations that arise in the city with the mission of returning it to its previous state. While she is in the Rainbow of Velaris trying to help she sees a studio that has not yet been rebuilt. A faerie called Ressina sees her looking, approaches her and tells her that it belonged to her friend, Polina, who did not survive the attack. She then tells her that the artists do not forget that she came to their aid when Hybern attacked and then invites her to come to her own studio where one night a week several artists gather to paint together. Feyre is indecisive as she does not want to be seen painting and in the end she decides to do it alone in Polina's studio.

Meanwhile Winter Solstice is approaching, a great celebration at the Night Court, and also her 21st birthday. As it is customary to give gifts for Solstice, Feyre and Elain go shopping, during which they meet Aranea and her life story. Feyre also tries to get closer to Nesta, who after the war has moved into her own apartment, like Lucien, and has distanced herself from the family preferring living her life on her own, something that saddens both Feyre and Elain.

When Feyre finally decides to buy Polina's studio, her sister gives it to her but does not take her money and together with Ressina she opens a studio to teach painting for free to all those who would like to learn.

A Court of Silver Flames[]

Feyre is dealing with the aftermath of the war, and her sister Nesta. Nesta has been traumatized by her experiences and is spiraling. Feyre and the rest of the Inner Circle force Nesta to the House of Wind, in lieu of being dumped in the Mortal Lands, and made a possible target. She is told to train with Cassian and work in the library since they disapproved of her lifestyle of sex and drinking which she uses as coping mechanisms.

Shortly after, Feyre becomes pregnant with a baby boy. She doesn't know that since he will have Illyrian wings, and her body isn't made to give birth to an Illyrian, Feyre and the baby will die. Rhys keeps this information from her, hoping he can find a way to save both Feyre and the child, but eventually fails to find another way and proceeds to keep the information from her.

One day Nesta gets very angry and tells Feyre she can die from childbirth. Feyre is distraught and doesn't understand why the Inner Circle and her mate hid this from her.

One night as Spring dawns in Velaris and Feyre was two months away from giving birth, Rhysand sees a rare red star blasting across the sky while with Feyre.[5] Sarah J. Mass confirmed this red star was Aelin Galathynius as she falls through darkness and passes through worlds, one of which is Prythian after using the wyrdkeys to open the wyrdgates in Kingdom of Ash. Rhysand actually sees her falling but he's "weirded out by it" so he claims he saw a red star. Rhys senses she's in trouble and reaches with his magic to slow down her fall.[6]

Feyre gives birth early, and both she and the baby nearly die. However, Nesta uses her power and the objects of The Dead Trove to bring them back from the brink of death, promising the Cauldron the powers back in exchange for their lives. During her bargain with the Cauldron, Nesta has it change the shape of Feyre's and her own anatomy so they can survive Illyrian births in the future. Feyre is healthy again and she and Rhysand name the baby, Nyx. Feyre and her mate are happy and looking forward to a life with the little boy.

House of Sky and Breath[]

After Bryce Quinlan manages to escape the Asteri by opening a gate to travel through the worlds to reach Hel in order to request aid from the Princes, she accidentally lands somewhere in Velaris near the Sidra River instead, carrying with her the Starsword. Azriel finds her, blindfolds her, and flies her to a residence, carrying her to the living room. Bryce is there for a few moments with Azriel, Amren, Cassian and Nesta, until Feyre and Rhysand arrive. Feyre enters the room first wearing a white loose shirt and brown pants splattered with paint, Rhysand entering after her. Bryce pleads her case to Amren and she translates to the others. Feyre then asks Bryce for her name, and Amren translates the question. Bryce addresses Rhysand and Feyre noticing they possess an air of authority, and tells them her name. Rhysand steps forward, smiling slightly, and introduces himself in the Old Language saying: "Hello, Bryce Quinlan. My name is Rhysand".

House of Flame and Shadow[]

When Nesta uses the Mask to defeat a Middengard Wyrm she has a hard time breaking out of its hold so Azriel tries to help her snap out of it by mentioning all the people that love Nesta. He mentions Feyre, Elain, and Nyx along with Nesta's mate and her friends, and says they are waiting for her.

Later, Ember Quinlan and Randall Silago stayed in the Night Court. Ember tried to explain to Rhysand and Azriel that Nesta wasn't at fault for Bryce taking their weapons to Midgard. She says she thinks only Feyre believed her.

Appearance[]

Feyre is slender, with pale skin, golden-brown hair, and slightly up-tilted blue-grey eyes. Before arriving at the Spring Court, Feyre ate very little due to her family's poverty, rendering her extremely thin. However, once settled into the Spring Court, she filled out to a healthy weight, as she says herself her body now looks like the one of a woman, with her full breasts and the sweeping, soft curves of her waist and hips. Despite her thinness, she had always been considered strong.

After her time in the Spring Court, her skin tanned and freckled. She has a pert, pretty and straight nose, sharp cheekbones, and a soft mouth (her father's mouth). She is described as beautiful. After turning into a High Fae while living with Tamlin, she wastes away from the trauma she endured Under the Mountain and becomes skinny once more, during this period she describes her face as gaunt, with sharp cheekbones, her eyes are dull and smudged with purple beneath, her full lips are wan and her collarbones jut out. She eventually regains her weight during her stay in the Night Court in A Court of Mist and Fury.

Her left forearm bears a tattoo given to her by Rhysand from their deal made Under the Mountain. The tattoo acts as a bargain contract that requires Feyre to spend one week every month of her life in the Night Court.

The tattoo that signifies her bargain with Rhysand is later destroyed by the King of Hybern in A Court of Mist and Fury. However, her right arm now bears a matching tattoo to the original, marking her as the High Lady of the Night Court.

After the events of A Court of Wings and Ruin, she has a black band from her bargain with Bryaxis on her left arm. and above it, a tattoo that marks her bargain to die at the same time as Rhysand. She has four phases of the moon with a small star in the center of them tattooed down her spine, for her deal with the Bone Carver.

In A Court of Frost and Starlight she asks Rhys to replace the eye that is tattooed on the center of her palms with the design of the Night Court insignia, a mountain with three stars. This kind of marking can never be altered.

Personality[]

Feyre is hardworking and dedicated to family, spending most of her days providing and caring for her father and sisters by hunting and selling animals at the market. Despite her willingness to protect her family at all costs, she feels great hatred for the Fae, as a result of her upbringing, her surroundings, and earlier experiences of spending time at the Spring Court. She is very stubborn, and has a sarcastic sense of humor that is usually not seen. She is very confident and selfless, willing to sacrifice anything for the people she loves. She also has a tendency to be cruel and disregard and ignore the pain and suffering her actions cause to others, such as when she destroyed the Spring Court to get back at Tamlin.

She loves painting and art, and she sees the world in vivid colors, light, and shadows. She is also very understanding, as she understands Rhysand and his problems, and she understands why he did what he did, and why he does what he does.

Feyre is seductive and charming when she wants to be but generally prefers to remain open to the people she has an affection for. She hates it when others judge her and is fairly indignant in terms of those who don't receive equal rights. She can be very cunning, an example of this was when she defeated the Middengard Wyrm with strategy alone, without physical strength or magical powers. She is brilliant at masking her emotions, lying, and playing different roles, and has a quick temper when provoked. She has unwavering loyalty towards those who have earned her trust and hatred towards those who have broken it. In addition to compassion and mercy, like the time he saved young Briar, who was being tortured in Hybern's war camp.

Feyre has a dark side that she doesn't mind showing, driven forward by her compassion, determination, self-sacrificing nature, and faith in those she loves. Feyre is also a keen artist. She often used art as a form of escape and entertainment. Although for a period after the traumas of Under the Mountain, she stopped painting, she slowly managed to recover after living in Velaris and began painting again.

Powers and Abilities[]

When Feyre died Under the Mountain, she was resurrected and reborn by the combined powers of the seven High Lords. She was Made into a High Fae, thus gaining the physique of High Fae, their strength and speed, their keener senses, and also their immortality. Feyre also inherited a fraction of all seven High Lord's powers, and as a result, she is able to track hidden objects through that power and use those abilities together. Feyre is able to winnow from one place to another. She receives Illyrian combat training from Cassian and Illyrian flight training from Azriel.

The following list comprises Feyre's abilities and their corresponding courts:

  • Spring Court: Shapeshifting. She is able to manifest claws, talons, and Illyrian wings.
  • Summer Court: Water Manipulation. She controls water expertly, able to create "water wolves" that can drown Hybern soldiers with ease. She uses it against Beron, the High Lord of Autumn after he insults Rhysand.
  • Autumn Court: Fire Manipulation. She masters control of fire, much to the chagrin of Beron.
  • Winter Court: Ice Manipulation. She masters control of ice, using it to refreeze parts of a lake after Eris melts it. Kallias asks her if she has mastered it, to which she replies she has.
  • Dawn Court: Healing Abilities (through her blood). She has control of her healing, using it to help Rhysand after he is shot with ash arrows.
  • Day Court: Air Manipulation, Light Generation, Cursebreaking. She has control of these abilities as well, using them several times throughout the series. One of her titles is "Cursebreaker".
  • Night Court: Darkness Manipulation, Daemati Abilities. Has mastery of these abilities due to her training with Rhysand. These abilities are strengthened after she mates with Rhysand and becomes High Lady of the Night Court.

Relationships[]

Rhysand[]

Main article: Feyre and Rhysand
Not consort, not wife. Feyre is High Lady of the Night Court. My equal in every way; she would wear my crown, sit on a throne beside mine. Never sidelined, never designated to breeding and parties and child-bearing. My queen.

–Rhysand, A Court of Mist and Fury

Feyre and Rhysand share a relationship that is both dangerous, slightly hateful on her part, affectionate, and understanding. She was the one he revealed all his frustrations to, and she confessed her anguish to him at the end of A Court of Thorns and Roses. He keeps her from shattering emotionally in the second trial and lost the usual calm pretense he normally has while he tries to save her in the third. The two share an understanding of one another. However, Feyre is still not even close to being attracted to him.

In A Court of Mist and Fury Rhysand rescues Feyre from the Spring Court. He respects her freedom of choice and ability to defend herself. Rhysand struggles with Feyre's feelings of self-hate and eventually helps her to deal with them. Their relationship deepens and they develop romantic feelings for each other. Those feelings continue evolving and lead to them becoming mates.

In A Court of Wings and Ruin, the two are shown to miss each other very much while Feyre is in the Spring Court. When Feyre returns to the Night Court, the two have a tearful reunion. Throughout the book, the two are shown to be very loving and protective of each other, and both are shown to tease and flirt with each other on multiple occasions. After the final battle ended, when Rhysand sacrifices himself to put the Cauldron back together, Feyre is devastated. She demands the other High Lords bring him back the way they did for her. At the end of the book, the two make a bargain to die at the same time so they are always together.

In A Court of Frost and Starlight both Feyre and Rhysand are stressed out from trying to sort things out after the War. After the Winter Solstice party, while being intimate, Feyre shows Rhys the image of their son, that the Bone Carver showed her, and she reveals that she is ready to have a baby with Rhys.

In A Court of Silver Flames, Feyre is pregnant with Nyx. The couple is ecstatic at this, although Rhys does become more protective of Feyre, making an air shield around her which prevents anyone from touching her. However, when the danger of Feyre's pregnancy is revealed, Rhys is very worried for Feyre and Nyx's lives, so much so that he goes to Drakon and Miryam, the Dawn Court and even begs Helion on his knees to find something to save Feyre's life. When Feyre finds out that Rhys and the Inner Circle kept the danger of the pregnancy from her, she is very upset with Rhys, although later on, it seems that the two of them have resolved that issue even though Rhys broke the promise he made not to lie to her. When Feyre is dying when giving birth to Nyx, Rhys is distraught. When Nesta saves Feyre and Nyx, he goes onto his knees and thanks her. Afterwards, he is seen next to Feyre, looking visibly shaken.

Tamlin[]

In A Court of Thorns and Roses, Feyre develops a romantic relationship with Tamlin, High Lord of the Spring Court, quickly. The two share lustful moments.

In A Court of Mist and Fury their relationship develops a rift when they return from Under the Mountain. As a result of his trauma, Tamlin becomes extremely overprotective, treating Feyre as a prize instead of a person, and controlling to the point of lashing out if she questions him and eventually locking her indoors. Being locked up causes Feyre to have a panic attack leading to the discovery of her ability to manipulate shadows. She breaks off their engagement shortly before being rescued and taken to the Night Court. Due to the time that Feyre spends in the Night Court, certain feelings for Rhysand begin to awaken in her, which were later confirmed when she realized that they were made for each other, that they were mates. With Rhysand she is not a mere consort, she is the High Lady of the Night Court.

In A Court of Wings and Ruin, Feyre is shown to hold a lot of resentment for Tamlin, and is bent on getting revenge on him, disregarding any harm she might cause to innocent fae in the process. The two's relationship after Feyre returns to the Night Court becomes hateful and strained, as seen at the High Lord's meeting, when he is trying to discredit and humiliate Feyre. However, when Feyre, Azriel, Elain and Briar are escaping from Hybern's camp, Tamlin helps Feyre escape. When the High Lords bring Rhys back to life, Feyre begs Tamlin to give a drop of his power to bring Rhys back, saying she will give him anything. He does so, telling Feyre to be happy. Afterwards, it seems that Feyre has forgiven Tamlin to some degree, with her also wishing Tamlin happiness.

In A Court of Frost and Starlight and A Court of Silver Flames, Feyre is shown to not want anything to do with Tamlin.

Isaac Hale[]

Feyre had a distant, almost strictly sexual relationship with a boy from her village named Isaac Hale. He later goes on to marry a girl from the village.

Lucien Vanserra[]

Lucien and Feyre have a rocky relationship. In A Court of Thorns and Roses, he dislikes her at first, being sarcastic and mocking towards her. Slowly, they start trusting each other and are seen joking around. He stands up for Feyre Under the Mountain, helps her in her challenges and even risks his life to heal her. In A Court of Mist and Fury, he pleads with Tamlin to let Feyre train despite knowing it might cause Tamlin to abuse him. But after that he stays on the sidelines and does nothing to help her, no matter how much Feyre begs him to. Finally Feyre brings Lucien along to the Night Court after they leave the Spring Court. Their relationship begins to deteriorate as they both cannot understand each other and finally Lucien ends up joining Vassa and Jurian.

Cassian[]

Cassian and Feyre have a close, sibling-like relationship. When they first meet, Cassian is angered at the treatment that Feyre had received from Tamlin, to the point that he had to restrain himself from going to the Spring Court and killing Tamlin himself. He jokes with her, trying to make her laugh. During dinner, Cassian and Feyre relate to each other because both know what it is like to go hungry for a night and to live in poverty. Feyre trains with Cassian. When Feyre has a breakdown in the middle of training, Cassian listens and doesn't condemn her actions from Under the Mountain until Rhys comes in and talks to Feyre. When Cassian's wings are shredded by the King of Hybern, Feyre is distraught.

In A Court of Wings and Ruin, when Cassian and Azriel rescue Feyre and Lucien from Eris and the rest of Lucien's brothers, Feyre cries out in happiness at seeing Cassian's wings healed. Throughout the book, the two train and remain close.

In A Court of Frost and Starlight, before the Winter Solstice Party, Feyre and Cassian joke around, get drunk and try to decorate.

In A Court of Silver Flames, Cassian and Feyre maintain a strong relationship, as after Cassian has a fight with Nesta, Feyre and him talk and she makes him feel better. After Feyre discovers the risk of the pregnancy, she talks to Cassian mind-to-mind, and asks if he is okay, and she asks him to take care of Nesta. When Feyre gives birth, Cassian is shown to be very worried for Feyre.

Azriel[]

Azriel was the one who trained Feyre along with Cassian. He taught her how to effectively use her wings. They are close friends. He even shares a smile with her after she makes a joke. He also feels free to bring out his dry sense of humor around her.

Morrigan[]

With Mor saving Feyre and bringing her to the Night Court all while switching her favorite color (red) because it was a trigger to Feyre to admitting to Feyre that she is indeed bisexual the pair are very close. They often go out for drinks together. After Rhys admitted to Feyre that he was her mate she ran to Mor to take her away. This shows how close Feyre had become with her.

Amren[]

Feyre and Amren have a good relationship. Amren tends to be blunt and honest with Feyre when she needs to be, but she does care for Feyre. Likewise, Feyre is respectful and kind to Amren. During the Winter Solstice party, Feyre gives Amren a special folding carrier for her jigsaw puzzles, which earns her an eye roll and a smile of appreciation from Amren. Feyre also gives Amren a small ruby and silver brooch in the shape of angel wings, which earns her a small peck on the cheek from Amren.

Father[]

Feyre has a strained relationship with her father. She is somewhat angry that her father never found work after he was crippled and is ashamed of him. However, when her father shows up at the battle against Hybern sailing a fleet of ships, Feyre is shocked. She is distraught when the King of Hybern snapped his neck. She burns his body and later sets up a headstone in honor of him. At the end of A Court of Silver Flames, Feyre introduces Nyx to him. In a bonus chapter, it is revealed that Feyre used his name as a middle name for Nyx.

Nesta Archeron[]

The young huntress has a complicated relationship with her oldest sister Nesta. Feyre thinks Nesta was born with a sneer on her face and the two often bicker. However, Feyre still loves her sister and she warns Nesta that the guy she wishes to marry is not right for her. Feyre is surprised to learn that Nesta went searching for Feyre after Tamlin took her away. Nesta also listens to Feyre's advice and dumps the guy she was seeing. Feyre realizes that she misunderstood Nesta and the two grow a little closer.

In A Court of Mist and Fury, Nesta is cold and unwelcoming to Feyre because she is upset that Feyre's status as High Fae will put their lives and Elain's engagement in danger, but she agrees to help Feyre defend the human lands. At the end of the book, she and Elain are forcibly turned into High Fae.

In A Court of Wings and Ruin, Nesta is angry and resentful of Feyre because she blames her for her and Elain's transformation into High Fae. Over the course of the book, the two bond over their desires to protect the human lands and their shared concern over Elain. However, in A Court of Frost and Starlight, their relationship becomes strained. Feyre tries to persuade Nesta to come to the Winter Solstice party, but Nesta refuses. Nesta only agrees to come when Feyre bribes her by saying she will pay her rent if she comes. When Nesta arrives, the two don't speak to each other, although Nesta does wish her a happy birthday.

The two's relationship is further strained when Nesta is forced to move into the House of Wind and train with Cassian. The two get into an argument and it ends with Nesta refusing to speak to her sister ever again. The two don't interact too much throughout the book, but their relationship does improve. When Feyre is dying while giving birth to Nyx, Nesta uses the Dread Trove to save Feyre from death. Nesta then strikes a bargain with the Cauldron. giving back all the power she stole from it if it would save Feyre, Nyx and Rhysand from death. Nesta tells Feyre she loves her, something she's never done before, and Feyre awakens, and tells Nesta she loves her too. The two then hug. A few weeks later, Nesta sees Feyre made a painting of her at the Pass of Enalius hanging in her house. At the end of the book, two are seen together with Elain and Nyx, visiting their father's grave.

Elain Archeron[]

Feyre has a better relationship with her other sister Elain who is described as innocent and doesn't grasp things like her other sisters do. Feyre has a soft spot for Elain and buys her seeds for the flower garden that Elain tends to in the milder months whenever Feyre can afford it. In return, Elain gave Feyre a gift, three small pints of paint one summer. Feyre was very happy with her gift and painted her house with little vines and flowers along the windows and thresholds and edges of things, tiny curls of flame on the stones bordering the hearth. Any spare minutes Feyre had that summer she would bedeck their house in color, sometimes hiding clever decorations inside drawers, behind the threadbare curtains, underneath the chairs and table. In A Court of Mist and Fury, Elain still welcomes her into their home, even though she is High Fae. When Elain goes into a depression after being turned into High Fae, Feyre is shown to be very concerned for her. In A Court of Frost and Starlight and A Court of Silver Flames, the two remain close.

Nyx[]

Nyx is Feyre's newborn son. Even before he is born, Feyre was shown to love him very much, such as when she found out about the danger of her pregnancy, she chose not to panic so Nyx wouldn't feel those emotions.

Trivia[]

  • Feyre derives from "Fayre" which is an English name that means "beautiful".[7]
    • Sarah J. Maas stated in an interview that part of the reason she chose the name "Feyre" was because it sounded like "fair".
  • Feyre has a lilac-and-pear scent according to Rhys.[8]
  • Her father had a ship named after her, as did two others named after her sisters.
  • She wears a silver ring with a star-sapphire that belonged to Rhysand’s mother, as a symbol of their mating bond.
  • In Ouroboros, the Mirror of Beginnings and Endings, Feyre sees a beast form of herself. She has black and gold fur, a ridge of dark scales down her back, enormous paws, blue-gray eyes, and a scaled tail.
  • The first time she killed a living being, a young rabbit in the forest, Feyre was 14 and her family was starving. In the aftermath, she cried for hours and she vomited that same rabbit after they had eaten it for dinner.
  • Feyre is loosely based on Belle from Beauty and the Beast. Ironically, unlike Belle who was a very avid reader and book worm, Feyre was unable to read until she was taught by Rhysand.
  • If ACOTAR was set in modern times, Feyre would love the Sofia Coppola films.[9]
  • Sarah J. Maas stated that Feyre would be sorted into Hufflepuff or Slytherin if she attended Hogwarts.[10]
  • In an interview, Maas stated that if Feyre ended up with someone from the Throne of Glass series series it would most likely be Chaol Westfall.
